Sand Saga Insider: Spring 2026

Hello everyone! Spring 2026 was mainly focused on sound. More effects were added and existing ones were improved, making the game feel more alive and immersive. But it was not just about audio – a new machinery entity was added as well, along with several improvements to existing systems.

Sound Effects
Existing sounds were adjusted based on feedback. For explosions, I limited how many sounds can play simultaneously to avoid overwhelming audio chaos. I also reduced the sharpness of explosion sounds so they feel deeper and more rumbling. Random variation was added as well, making repeated sounds less repetitive and more natural.

Additional sound effects were introduced for various other processes throughout the game. Some of them use procedurally generated audio. Instead of playing a pre-recorded sound file every time, the sound is generated on the fly. In simple terms, the process starts with random noise and then modifies its properties over time using carefully selected parameters. This allows different sound effects to be produced dynamically while still keeping their general character and behavior.

Launcher
A new machinery entity called Launcher has been added. It serves a similar purpose to belts, allowing the transportation of liquid and powder-based elements, but in a very different way. Instead of moving materials horizontally, it launches them through the air by technically converting them into particles. The Launcher takes input from the back side and fires materials diagonally from the front. This also enables partial vertical transportation of materials, something that was not previously possible since belts only work horizontally.

Conclusion

That is all for today. In future updates, you can probably expect more sound effects and hopefully some new features as well.
